2001年于中国科学院水生生物研究所取得博士学位,同年8月到厦门大学生命科学学院工作。20021月至20042月在中国科学院过程工程研究所生化工程国家重点实验室从事博士后研究。20081月至20101月在法国巴黎高师(école normale supérieure)生物系植物分子生物学实验室作访问学者/博士后。20043月起历任中国科学院水生生物研究所副研究员和研究员。曾任中国藻类学会理事(200311-200710月)。2015年起兼任法国Université du Maine à Le Mans客座教授(Guest Professor)。 

主要以三角褐指藻为模式研究硅藻对环境的适应策略及利用硅藻产油的生物技术。建立了一种简单的电穿孔转化三角褐指藻的方法(Marine Genomics, 2014),与人合作阐明了硅藻尿素循环及其生态意义(Nature, 2011),揭示了氮限制下来自支链氨基酸降解与细胞质糖酵解的碳流导致了硅藻细胞油脂的积累(Plant Cell, 2014),提出了促进硅藻油脂产率有效增加的遗传改良策略(Algal Research, 2015; Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B, 2017)。先后主持国家自然科学基金、国家重点基础研究发展计划和科技基础性工作专项子课题等。在NaturePlant CellPlant JournalProgress in Lipid ResearchMarine Pollution Bulletin等知名期刊发表学术论文60多篇,取得授权专利一项。
