学科组研究方向：藻类分类与资源利用学科组历史悠久，是水生所最早建立的学科组之一。

饶钦止教授于1936年回国在中央研究院动植物研究所创立藻类分类组，历八十余年，经几代人不懈努力，藻类分类与资源利用学科组始终致力于我国淡水藻类区系和系统分类学研究，先后发表几百篇论文，编写藻类分类学专著12本，发表了大量新物种，获得包括国家自然科学二等奖在内的科技成果奖共计8项。目前学科组研究方向有：

1. 藻类系统分类---负责中国淡水藻类志的编研和重要类群的系统分类学研究。

2. 藻类生物多样性---开展浮游藻类和底栖藻类生物多样性研究及基于藻类的水体健康评价。

3. 微藻资源化利用---筛选富高值代谢物的微藻藻株，探讨藻类利用新途径。
